Life can feel chaotic, and in the rush of it all, we often miss the ways God is speaking to us through the world around us. From the delicate veins of a leaf to the vast expansion of the sky, His presence is woven into everything. When we start to notice, it doesn’t change how we see, but it transforms how we live.

Seeing God in everything starts with learning to slow down and pay attention. Psalms 19:1 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." This verse is an invitation to look and listen deeper to God’s purposeful and creative nature. For example, the gentle rustle of leaves blowing in the wind can remind us of God’s peace. The sunrise offers hope for new beginnings. Storms remind us of His power. It’s impossible finding something in this world that doesn’t relate back to God, because He is the creator of it all. Romans 1:20 echoes this truth, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Creation itself is God’s masterpiece, and by observing the world around us, we not only learn about God’s attributes but are constantly reminded of His presence around us. God also reveals himself through people. Every person is made in God’s image. Their kindness, creativity, and even their struggles reveal something about Himself. Even in everyday moments, whether it’s a quiet peaceful morning, a stressful workday, a celebration with family and friends, each and every experience has the potential to bring us closer to God.

When you start seeing God in everything, even the most mundane things can become purposeful life lessons. Every single moment is a chance to draw closer to God and get to know Him better. Sometimes, the greatest lessons come in moments of pain. About a month ago, I experienced one of the most challenging moments of my life. I had just been in a terrible car accident, and my dream car, which I had only had for a month, was totaled. At first, I struggled deeply with accepting what had happened. I was heartbroken over losing something I had worked so hard for and cherished deeply. But as the Lord worked on my heart, he gently shifted my perspective. He offered me peace, and reminded me that I was alive, that I could have died in that accident, and that cars are replaceable but people aren’t. At that moment, I began to see God’s hand even in the wreckage. The accident became a lesson in gratitude and trust, teaching me that He is present in both blessings and trials. God always continues to show His power even in the darkest and most difficult experiences. John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” When life feels overwhelming, these moments become opportunities to witness God’s faithfulness in a way we might often miss. Darkness doesn’t have the final word. In fact, it creates a perfect backdrop for God’s light to shine more brightly. When we open our eyes to God’s light, even the shadows of life are transformed into testimonies of His goodness.

When we train ourselves to see God in everything, it transforms our life. Worship becomes a lifestyle every time we notice His presence. Our faith grows stronger when we reflect on how His hand helps us during hard times. We start to recognize that life is beautiful and a gift, which helps our gratitude overflow. We start to learn that joy doesn’t have to be obtained when things are going right, but from knowing that God is always with us. Awareness like this takes practice but is worth it. I like to reflect on scripture and pause and pray, asking God to reassure me that He is there. It’s crazy the difference pausing during moments throughout the day makes on your life and your mind. The next time you are doing something, whether that is making a cup of coffee, or decorating your tree for this upcoming Christmas, pause and take a few deep breaths. Try to focus on your environment around you and what God is trying to show you, because I assure you there will always be something. This helps with those who often struggle with feeling God’s presence at all. But take heart that He is always working, even when we don’t see or feel it. From the warmth of a cup of coffee, to preparing for the holidays with loved ones, you begin to see His handiwork. In stillness, or busyness, God’s presence surrounds you, and shapes your path.

What if you decided to look for God in everyday moments more? Imagine how much more joyful, peaceful, and meaningful your life could be. When we train our hearts and minds to see Him, our lives can be transformed and reflect His glory, giving us opportunities to learn, grow, and share. Seeing God in everything isn’t about forcing spiritual moments, but it’s about recognizing that they’re already there. It’s about slowing down, opening your eyes, and letting the wonder of His presence move you and change your perspectives. When we do, life becomes fuller, and richer.
