A Christmas skit by H2Grow Kids at First Church of God, Tulare
We are all waiting for something, most of the time. Whether it’s sitting in a dentist office waiting to have our teeth examined. A doctor’s office waiting to hear the results of our tests. The long line at the store clerk counter. The list goes on.
Sam and Sarah have long awaited this year’s Christmas Party and seeing their close friends. There’s just one problem. It’s been raining for days, and now they are stuck on the roof of their home. The water that now surrounds their house and their neighborhood has carried off their car. They have no way of getting to the Christmas party. What will they do?
When thinking of a plan, Sam and Sarah have a realization. They can call God! And that is just what they do. God tells them to hang tight, and that He would be down in a minute. Sam and Sarah are relieved, they are going to make it to the party!
Throughout their time waiting, Sam and Sarah are greeted by a couple of their friends. Their friends’ offer them rides to the party, but Sam and Sarah decline their offers, explaining that God was on His way to rescue them.
Sam and Sarah are confused and curious. Why was God taking so long?
They call God again and ask him where he has been. To their surprise, God replies, “You didn’t see me?”. They are confused, and mention that they only saw some of their friends float by. God explains that that was Him. He had already come by three times to help them. Sam and Sarah are dumbfounded.
We often expect things to happen a certain way. We have plans of how something is supposed to play out. Sometimes our plans are a success. Other times, things tend to go a different way than we expect. Proverbs 16:9 says it best: “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Trusting God has a lot to do with surrender and dying to our will. But after we surrender, we come to see that God’s plan was even better than our own.
So while you are waiting, whatever it may be for, what can you do?
You can start by seeing “Waiting for God”, First Church of God’s Christmas Skit on Sunday, December 21st at 10:30am! This hilarious, comical, and heartwarming skit truly captures how God uses everyone to reveal Himself to us.
